About the artist
My "Why".
Why do you do your job? Are you meticulous, precise in every detail, obsessive even? Do you see the finished product in your mind and work backwards from there?
Then we might be on the same page.
I firmly believe that how you do anything is how you do everything. It's ok to be a little intense and for others to not quite get it.
Every place we go and every person we see, we leave either better or worse than how we found it. There's so much going on out there in the world that we cannot change, I cannot change, that I make the conscious choice to leave it better and just spread some joy! Is that too out there? Well. Maybe I have selfish motivations because it makes me feel so good. So why do you do your job? Could it be for the same reasons?
If your inner world reflects your outer world then the opposite is also true and therefore being surrounded by beauty is inspiring and good for people's wellbeing.
As designers, this is what you do day in, day out. You bring people calm, inspiring spaces, rooms filled with colour and joy of course! When all is said and done, all we can really do is create and love. So let's do that.
I have a few strong values that I try to live by and if I succeed I know I'm not going too far wrong. Here they are:
Be hard working, do not be wasteful, have integrity in everything you do, own your faults, give others the benefit of the doubt, share a smile with a stranger and teach the next generation to choose their values carefully and that manners cost nothing.
So my 'Why" is that I want to serve people, to connect and be creative, to bring a smile to someone's face that I will never meet. I just happen to love making art. (See here for my journey into printmaking.)
Can it be that art can tie all my values together under the title of 'profession'? .....Wow, I hope so! If you are reading this, you may just be the type of person who would like to share this journey together.
If you are, come with me.
Sustainability
We are committed to the 3 Rs - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. It is said that the construction industry accounts for 40% of the world's landfill.
Therefore, we try not to be part of this statistic and use recycled and recyclable products and order from local suppliers where we can. We do not use any plastic in our packaging and try to buy from companies who reflect our stance on this.
